Belwind is located 46 km off the coast of Zeebrugge on the Bligh Bank. It is powered by 55 Vestas V90 turbines (3MW). The project was developed in 3.5 years. Jan-Peter Elffers participated (2007) in the team that developed Belwind from scratch until bank launch (2008). Michael van der Heijden was part of the team that successfully financed this project. Financial Close occurred in July 2009, at the height of the financial crisis, and was the first offshore wind project co-financed by the European Investment Bank (EIB).
